My name is Galen Volckhausen. I am 26 years old. My dad first taught me how to kayak in a pond when I was about three years old and I just never stopped. Today my focus in kayaking is to have fun with my friends, explore wild places, and push my mental and physical boundaries of what I conceive of as possible.

Why I Love Kayaking:
Ahhh the rush! I love being around water and in the wilderness, it is therapeutic for me. I love the adrenaline. I have a need for intensity and putting myself in life or death situations reminds me of how much I love being alive.
Kayaking Accomplishments:
Not dead yet, Honey Badger of the Year, Most Known Unknown Hits, First D Rattlesnake waterfalls, First D Pukima Falls, First D Natural Progression on the Indus River, NFC #2 - first place afterparty, and a lot more.
Most Memorable Moment in Your Kayak:
Getting beat down in the middle hole in "Show Me Your Tits" at high water & running the first descent of Zamora River with Todd Wells.
